Also please make sure to check out our new handbag and website if you are looking for expert purse cleaning in Edmonton Alberta Canada. We really are the best purse cleaners in Canada and we have a huge purse cleaning facility in Toronto Ontario as well.
1) The first step to keeping your purse beautiful is keeping it clean. Take every precaution necessary to keep it out of the way of dirt, grime and other places that can damage the exterior of your bag or purse. When cleaning it with a cleaning agent make sure you wipe it off with a damp rag or cloth because applying a cleaning agent to surfaces with dirt can even further damage the exterior of the bag. Always buy a cleaning solution that is specific to the material that your bag is made of to prevent further damage. A suede purse should be cleaned with a suede brush and you shouldn’t use a suede brush on leather at all.
2) For most interiors you should only use a damp cloth with some mild soap or foam cleaner. Try and pull out the interior first and clean it that way. You never want to saturate the lining with water or soap because prolonged dampness can damage the interior and even be absorbed by the exterior and it will be visible on the outside. The worst idea of all is to steam clean unless done by a professional with proper ingredients.
3) Cleaning spots and stains can be a burden but there are definitely good ways to do it. A dry eraser is a good tool for removing stains on suede purses and if that doesn’t work then you should use a vinegar solution with a light brush. Always be sure to test a small area before cleaning the entire bag to make sure that the cleaning agent is compatible with your purse. Ink can be removed best with vinegar or nail polish remover. A great easy way to clean a spot right when it happened is with perfume. Perfume somehow does a great job cleaning spots and stains if applied right away. Leather purses can be cleaned with nothing else but water and a soft detergent followed by some Vaseline after drying then your purse will be cleaned and preserved until the next spill; but, hopefully not.
4) Now that you know how to care for a pretty expensive purse its time to know how to store it. Most people use purses seasonally so it’s a great idea to store it properly on the off-season and make sure that its colour and dexterity is preserved and also its shape. Be sure that it could breath especially if its leather but you also want to cover it so putting it in a pillowcase is a great idea. The shape must also be maintained so it’s a great idea to stuff it with tissue paper. Sometimes a purse can attain a musty smell to it after a while so it’s a good idea to spray one shot of perfume before storing it so that when you pull it back out it smells nice.
5) If you ignored step 4 and your purse smells funny then you should first check if there are any creatures that made a home inside your purse while its been in the closet. Once you have removed any possible creatures its time to get the smell out. Its really easy to remove that scent, just stuff the bag with newspaper or baking soda for a few days and it should absorb any funny odours.
